ADDITIONS AND ALTERATIONS TO THE HISTORIC WATCHUNG LIBRARY

 Potter Architects is leading the renovation and expansion of the Watchung Library, a long-standing civic building that has served the Borough for generations. The project prioritizes a comprehensive interior renovation, reworking the existing structure to support contemporary library programming through clearly defined zones for children, teens, and adult patrons, improved accessibility, and upgraded building systems. A new exterior addition, expressed as a half-octagonal form at the rear of the building, extends the library’s footprint while maintaining a respectful relationship to the original architecture. Together, the interior transformation and rear addition preserve the library’s historic identity while reinforcing its role as a contemporary civic anchor for the Borough.
